Welcome into primary 6!

Welcome back to school and in to P6!  I hope you had a lovely summer break and are ready for the beginning of another busy school year. Here is some information that you will hopefully find useful.

This term we will be learning about science with a focus on the Solar System and how eclipses happen. We will be reading The Boy Who Swam with Piranhas by David Almond as our class novel and will be using it to develop our reading skills.

In P6L this year there is also a ‘Star of the week’ certificate that will be given to a pupil who has shown great effort and commitment in their learning.

We learn every day about maths, literacy skills but each day brings a different exciting lesson:

Monday Art with Mr Potter
Tuesday Hip-Hop with Miss Miller

STAR reading

Wednesday Science with Mr Potter

French

Thursday Spanish with Mr Potter
Friday Paired Reading

Assembly / House Hobbies

ICT

Although this term P6 will be learning Hip-Hop on a Tuesday we will make the most of any opportunities to be active, including a daily MillOMile so please ensure you have appropriate footwear in school at all times.

Please could you make sure that your child has the following items in school every day:

  • Indoor and outdoor P.E. kit (if the weather is nice we will go outside)
  • Rainy day activity
  • Water bottle (optional)
  • Quiet reading book
  • Home-school notebook

Some Dates for your Diary:

Tuesday 26th September– Parents Night Meetings
Thursday 28th September– Parents Night Meetings

Don’t forget you can keep up with Mill O’Forest on our school twitter account. Finally, if you have any concerns or queries please do not hesitate to contact myself via the home/school book or by phoning the school office.

I am really looking forward to a fantastic year in P6!
