Literacy: Pobble: Hot

I love creative writing, especially when I have to think of a story with very little to go off of. It could be a picture, a video, a song that could be the inspiration for a story and from there you can build the world of your story to be anything.

I was really intrigued to give the Pobble HOT challenge a go, it was going to be my first HOT Challenge and I was really excited to try it. I felt much more confident after following Miss Deans Sway the other day on how to help build my story. She gave me tips and different things that I could consider to help make my piece of writing better.

On the website link there were lots of things to do relating to the picture so I decided to give them all a go and hopefully they would help me to create my story.

Here is a PDF link to my finished story, it can also be found at the end of my sway.

Pobble About to Hatch Story Starter

This is a great little project that can be completed over a longer period of time and it has all been created from one picture! How have you all got on with your Pobbles?

Egg Box Volume – Numeracy – Hot

Hello everyone,

Have you had a go at the ‘Hot’ Numeracy Challenge – Egg Box Volume?

The task was to  create a net for an easter egg that is 20 cm high and 8cm wide. The net must have a window shape cut into the front to view the egg through.

Here are some simple and straight forward instructions to help you with this task.

1. Create a net for a 3D Cuboid – If you do not have paper big enough to match the dimensions, feel free to alter the measurements. Use a search engine to help with the drawing of your net.

2. Decorate the net of your Cuboid using Easter images – for example, eggs, Easter Bunny or chicks.

3. Carefully cut out an egg shaped-hole in one of the rectangles.

4. Cut out the Cuboid Net and assemble your Easter box!

If you managed to complete this activity, please share your finished product with your class teacher – through Seesaw or email.

Hello Everyone 🙂

Hope you all had a nice weekend and are ready for another week of learning.

My blog post today is on our Story Starter task, again I am aware many of you may have already done this but I would encourage you to go through this powerpoint, you could maybe self assess your piece of writing or edit and redraft as this is also a very important skill within your writing that will create depth and progression 🙂

Remember you can send your stories to your individual teacher through their email/ send the link of sway via private message on seesaw.

Haiku Challenge – Grid 1 – Hot!

Today I thought I’d attempt a HOT challenge from the Literacy grid, as I know a few of you have done this already.

With poetry, remember that ‘less is more’,  so choose your words carefully and remember to paint a picture in the reader’s mind.

Drifting slowly down
Like pink confetti falling –
Cherry blossom tree.

Trees scrape the night sky,
Bare branches clutching at stars.
The storm is coming.

And now a silly one  –

Stretching and yawning,
The world’s laziest cat wakes –
“Time for my tea, Mum!”

Hope you’ll have a go too! 🙂

Tuesday Tunes: HOT Literacy Haiku Poem Challenge- Miss Deans

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope you are all settled into our home learning experience and have had time to relax and chill and do fun things!

You may still be getting to grasp with our learning grids and trying to decide which task to do first, one of our hot literacy challenges is to create a Haiku poem, FUN FACT ALERT!!!

Did you know that Haiku poems can feature in songs,  so far I have found lots that unfortunately you may not know but your parents would, HOWEVER I have managed to find one that actually we have featured in an assembly before,  Can anyone correctly guess this  song ?  Please leave your answers in the comments.

Thanks Miss Deans 🙂
