Health and Wellbeing – Methlick’s Virtual Gallery – Week 1 – Hot

Good morning everyone!

Let’s take a virtual tour of Aberdeen Art Gallery – https://bit.ly/2AR37X5

With a duration of 2h30 minutes, we highly recommend that you view the tour throughout the week. If you prefer, focus on a specific gallery (Sculpture Court, Collecting Art etc).

Throughout week 1, we are going to  focus on identifying our favourite piece of art within the gallery, sharing our thoughts/opinions and researching the artist.

Click on the Sway below to see everything you will need to complete this activity. An example has also been provided. Good luck and remember to share your work with your class teacher.

Remember, we all believe that having a growth mindset is very important so the activities are organised into the following levels.

Spicy

Hot

Where will you start?

Let’s leap into the learning pit and learn from our mistakes to achieve GREAT things! The teachers will be sharing their attempts too.

Keep checking the blog,  please leave COMMENTS  and send your work to your teacher via email/Seesaw or add to your Sway so that we can stay connected.

Thank you!

Mrs Fraser and all the teachers

Feel-Good Friday – Fun with Fruit and Veg

For the final day of our Health Fortnight, I thought we could have a bit of fun.  You know how adults always tell you, “Don’t play with your food”?  Well, now’s your chance!

Today’s Feel-Good activity combines creativity with imagination AND healthy food.  Have you guessed what it is yet?

Your challenge is to make a fabulous creature using only fruit and vegetables.

Have a look!

Do remember to ask for an adult’s permission before taking any food to do this activity,  and make sure that you are being supervised if you are using any sharp kitchen utensils.

If you would like to email me photos, I can make a Sway to show everyone what you have created.  Have fun!

Book Club – Reading – Hot – Week 2

Good morning everyone and welcome back to Methlick’s Book Club!

I hope that you have enjoyed your second week of Health fortnight. Hopefully, you have all been reading for enjoyment, just like me!

I have been reading ‘The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse’ by Charlie Mackesy.

What have you been reading? Let us know in the comments!

Your questions to answer this week:

  • Select one or two main characters from your book. If you could ask them three questions to learn more about them, what would they be? Write down your questions and try to answer them as if you were that character.

You will find my responses in the comments.

Please share your responses in the comments and let’s all talk about what we have been reading!

First Aid with Mrs Webster- Health and Wellbeing

Hello Everyone, Happy Thursday.

We would love to hear if any of you have been practising your FIrst Aid skills from looking at Mr Reid’s post last week or if you have done  this independently.

I thought , who better to tell us about First Aid than one of our PSA’s; Mrs Webster.

Please have a look at her poster information below that she has created to help you remember about first aid and their role in the playground.

Anagrams – Fruits and Vegetables

Good morning, everyone.

As it’s the last week of our Health Fortnight, I thought I would choose something healthy for my Literacy challenge.  All the answers to today’s anagrams are names of fruits and vegetables.

If you haven’t tried working out an anagram before – it’s easy!  Just unscramble the letters in each question to form the name of a fruit or vegetable.  I find the easiest way to do this is to write down all the letters in random order on a piece of paper.  You can also cut them up and rearrange them that way, moving them around until you work it out.

Click on the Sway to take part.  Good luck!

Play Sumdog with Mr Reid and Miss Deans – Spicy/Hot – Numeracy – Term 4 – Week 6

Good morning everyone

If your child has a Sumdog account, they will be able to play with Mr Reid and Miss Deans between 12pm – 1pm today.

Mr Reid will be playing – High Rise

Miss Deans will be playing – Pier Walk

Each game will start on a 5 minute interval, meaning that the first game will start at 12pm, then 12.05pm, 12.10pm etc.

When selecting ‘Who do you want to play against?’ – Select ‘Class’.

We have added every teacher to each class, so we should all be able to play together!

We look forward to playing Sumdog with you all.

The 24-Hour Clock – Spicy/Hot

Good morning, everyone.  I hope you are well and enjoying the second ‘Health and Wellbeing’ week.

As our Numeracy focus is still ‘Time’, I have made the following Sway on the subject of the 24-hour clock.  I hope you find it useful.

There is also an activity to convert analogue times into 24-hour digital times, and some links to websites featuring a variety of follow-up activities to practise your time-telling ability.

Don’t forget to save any work to your Seesaw class journal, or write the answers in your jotters.

Feel-Good Friday – Things To Look Forward To

Good morning, everyone.  Time for another Feel-Good Friday activity.

During lockdown many people may be feeling upset, bored or frustrated because they are unable to do all the things they usually enjoy.  At times like this, it helps to remind ourselves of all the things we have to look forward to, once the lockdown is over.

Click on my Sway to find out how to make your own jar of ‘Things to Look Forward To’.

Unfortunately I left all my craft items in school so my jar doesn’t look as pretty or as nicely decorated as I’d have liked.  I’m sure yours will look much better!

I’d love to see all your decorated jars, so please share with me via my Glow email.    I will then collate them and make a Sway so that everyone can see your designs.

Have fun, and have a good weekend.  🙂
