Aberdeenshire Council, within the context of the Empowering Schools agenda, will be promoting the development of a sustainable and self-improving school system.
Individual schools have been invited to work in collaboration with the lead officers, and each other, to co-produce a structure and process for a self-improving school system that will:
- Raise attainment and achievement and improve outcomes for all children and young people.
- Enhance learning experiences for children and young people, embedded within Curriculum for Excellence.
- Build skills in self-evaluation for self-improvement.
- Encourage collaborative working within, between and beyond establishments
- Build leadership capacity and provide opportunities for system leadership.
- Develop a shared moral purpose and collective responsibility for all children and young people in all our communities across Aberdeenshire.
The fundamental beliefs that underpin this programme are the following:
- Schools and their partners have the expertise and experience to tackle the challenging circumstances they find themselves in by sharing and working together.
- Taking a school partnership approach provides opportunities for leadership development and capacity building throughout our school system.
- Strengthening partnership and collaboration between schools and across local authorities is crucial to releasing and maximising our combined potential.
A Microsoft Team for Self-Improving Schools has been set up for further information. To request access to the page or for further queries please contact the lead officers. For session 2021-2022 the lead officers are Kay MacDonald and Danica Smith.
