Gardening

As you know gardening is one of  the hobbies and we are wondering if anyone would be free when hobbies end to go and help at the schools allotment, especially in the summer holidays.

If you could it would be very appreciated, even if you couldn’t do it you might know someone who could!Also a note will be sent out soon.We have been weeding most of the time but we have also been painting the bench.Yesterday Mrs Moir came to see us working,she looked at our sunflowers in the greenhouse, she saw the tree we have in a pot that we planted planted ourselves.She was very proud!

Gordon

P4s lately have been finding out about why our uniform is the way it is. They found out the green of our uniform is part of  the Gordon tartan. The boars head is part of the Gordon clan because there is a tale that one  of the members of the clan saved the King from an attack from a boar. Also in 1794  there was a war with the French and Great Britain. They wore a tartan that was made by Forsyth of Huntly . So that is why we have that colour and emblem. But P4 still thought they might change the emblem as long as it has a link to the Gordons.

Mini Olympics

Yesterday the P4s took part in a Mini Olympics with other schools from the Huntly area. The events were;

javelin, shot put, sprinting race,long jump, triple jump, hurdles . Then we did some races at the end of the Olympics for some fun. To start the games of the P6s and 7s did a cheerleading dance.

After that all the different teams did a parade,  waving their flags to the National anthem music of their country. Gordon Primary represented Mexico.

To finish off bronze, silver and gold medals were given to the winning teams. Gordon Primary were disappointed that they didn’t win a medal, but they really enjoyed joining in with the Olympics.Well done to everyone who took part!

Brazilian Samba

On Wednesday the 23rd May 2012 the Super Slider Samba band came from Brazil to play Samba to us.

They played lots of different drums and they played the Tambourine. Jonas, one of the samba players, explained that you can have 300 instruments in a samba band and they play samba music at carnival for everyone to dance too.

They handed out instruments so that we could join in too!

If you want to find out more, here is an weblink to a carnival in Rio where Samba music is played:
