P5B Movies of Toys

P5B have been making videos of their toys and its was great fun!

Some of them were funny, while some needed a bit of tweaking too!

We all really enjoyed the experience of making videos, and learnt a lot!

Olympic Torch Run

On Tuesday 26th June,  Ciara Ennis, one of the Olympic torch bearers came to Gordon Primary with her torch.

Pupils were asked to donate £2, if they wanted to have their photos taken holding the olympic torch.  “It was very exciting,” said Tasmin from P4a, “because it is the first time I have seen an olympic torch in my life.”

The whole school (apart from P7s ,who are at Glenshee) then took part in a lap around the school playing field behind Ciara who was holding the Olympic Torch.

The money collected from the photographs will be donated to school funds.

Thank you Ciara!

The New Tour Guides

The new Tour Guides had their Launch last Friday (Friday the 22nd of June 2012) and it went very well!

We had to do it in the Big Hall because the castle was too wet so we so that meant we couldn’t have it at the castle. We each got different parts of the script and there were seats put out in the Hall so that our parents could watch and we all got shortbread and juice at the end!

Every one really liked our costumes and Mrs Sell took photos of each of us in our costumes!

The olympic torch

On Thursday the Olympic torch came to Gordon primary.   Jamie Law and Angela Shearer, Olympic Torch bearers, came with the Olympic torch and told us how they got nominated for holding it.

Angela got nominated by Graham Esson who owns  Costcutter in Huntly because she of her work organizing  the Relay for Life for cancer research UK because she lots her granny and a good friend to cancer .

Jamie got nominated by someone who worked in a hospital because Jamie had a stroke. He told us how excited he was at carrying and how proud he was when he was walking with the torch.

Angela and Jamie told us they felt very felt lucky and honoured to be chosen and they would always remember the experience. They said they would put the torch in a special place and pass it on to their children.

End of term.

During this week, as it is the last week there will be end of term assemblies, the p7s are away at Glenshee until Thursday and teachers are meeting their new classes.

The nursery enjoyed a fun day last Wednesday, with a fascinating visit from Mr Bug. They saw and got to handle many creatures including a snake and a giant tortoise. This was followed by a great time bouncing on the inflatable snake!

Both Primary 4 classes enjoyed having a fun session at the swimming pool today (26th June) and on Wednesday they will have a walk along the Deveron followed by a picnic and a play in the park.

P2 Herbs!

As part of their project about the senses and Living Things, primary 2 have been growing herbs. They grew parsley, basil and chives.

They enjoyed smelling and tasting the herbs.

On Monday they held a plant sale, selling their plants for 20p per pot. The plants were very popular and sold out quickly. Money raised will be donated to a charity.

The New Tour Guides Launch

The new Tour Guides Launch (P5s) is on the 22nd of June 2012. We all can’t wait until Friday!

We have given our parents invitations to come and see our tour!
