Doric Poems

Happy Burns day everyone !!!!!!  this is a poem by Robbie Burns

O my Luve’s like a red, red rose,
That’s newly sprung in June:
O my Luve’s like the melodie,
That’s sweetly play’d in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a’ the seas gang dry.

Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.

And fare-thee-weel, my only Luve!
And fare-thee-weel, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho’ ’twere ten thousand mile!

Hope you enjoyed the poem !!!!!

Fairtrade News

The Fairtrade Reps met last week to prepare for Fairtrade Fortnight, which starts on February 27th.

Primary 6 are planning to make Fairtrade truffles and hold a coffee afternoon for parents. Mrs Fisher said that a Fairtrade farmer from Malawi would be coming to Huntly over the fortnight, and she was hoping he would be able to come into school to talk to us about Fairtrade.

We are hoping to open a Fairtrade bank account and start a Fairtrade tuckshop.

The Slogan for Fairtrade fortnight this year is “Take a Step for Fairtrade” and the school is planning to create a trail of Fairtrade footsteps around Gordon Primary.

Victorians

All of P5 are learning about Victorians.

So far p5b have learnt a little bit about Queen Victoria and her life.

Queen Victoria was born 1819. She became Queen when she was eighteen.

She was chrisand  Alexzandrina but her family called her Drina.

Queen Victoria married Prince Albert ( who was also her cousin). Victoria and Albert had nine children.

We had a bit of fun and put on a play about Victoria’s coronation. In our play we had a king and Queen of  Spain, a King , Queen and princes of France and some other visitors.

P5 Games

P5B have been making board games with Mrs Irvine.

We have made them with all sorts of things including vinyl and coloured paper. Some Games were 3D.

We had to make instructions on how to play the game, and we also had to use persausive writing to make you feel tempted to buy the game.

When we had finished making the games we each played three games, then we had write about the Pros and Cons of the game so that if they are all going to be made again they would be improved the way the class suggested!!

Now we are trying to decide out what to do with the games. We were thinking about letting Gordon Primary play them then we might have gone to ASDA and/or TESCO but… we ended up just choosing which person in our group would take the gtame home.
