Art Work

Here are a few examples of some of the very attractive artwork that has been produced around the school.

Mr Baird has worked with P7 to produce very eye catching artwork in the style of Pablo Picasso, while Mrs Wills has been working with P6 to produce beautiful portraits in the style of Cationa Millar. P4s have produced some lovely windmill artwork, as part of their study of Scotland.

Brazilian Music

Primary 4s have learnt about different types of brazilian music such as maracato and watched this You Tube clip;  Maracatu Nacao Pernambuco

They are learning a dance called the Ciranda; Ciranda dance

They also listened to “coco” music.

They have also been enjoying singing traditional scottish songs with Keith Cockburn.Three Craws

They are hoping to be able to perform their songs and dances to the school when they have finished their workshops.

Sharing Assemblies

Some classes have been sharing what they have been doing this term with the school at assembly.

Last week P7 told the school about their WW2 project. They showed models they had made of gas masks and Anderson Shelters. Everyone carried their own gas mask in a box in case of a gas attack. Some pets even had gas masks. They explained how every child who was evacuated had to wear a label saying who they were and where they came from.

We heard the noise of the siren that warned people about an air raid, telling them to hurry to their anderson shelter.

Then p4c recited their amusing poems that they wrote for Roald Dahl day. They were based on nursery rhymes and were very silly! We enjoyed listening to them.

Bee Happy

Classes at Gordon Primary have been taking part in workshops for the past two weeks as part of Huntly’s Wellbeing Festival, which will take place in Huntly from September 20th- 24th.

Classes have been learning, through games, about the importance of pollination and the part bees play in this. They have also been learning a “Waggle Dance”, similar to the dance that bees perform to inform each other where to find pollen. Pupils have also made costumes that they will bee able to wear at “The Swarm” parade .

Pupils are being encouraged to join in with the “The Swarm” parade on Sunday 23rd at 1.00 pm, from the town Square to Battlehill.

We hope you will all bee there!

Olympics Competition

Primary 4 pupils last year were asked to draw a picture of an Olympic Sport. These pictures were put in local shops in Huntly for children to take part in a holiday challenge, finding the olympic pictures in shop windows around the town. People were also invited to vote for their favourite pictures and the favourite three won a prize . Well done to the winners.
