Greetings from Russia!

Miss Kelly, who taught p4 in the session 2010-2011 (present P6B)  is now having a very exciting year teaching in Russia! Here are some photos she has sent. Some are of the very beautiful churches in Russia.

She has started to learn to speak Russian and says that the Russian people are really pleased when she makes an attempt to speak their language to them. If you have a message for Ms Kelly, please let Mrs Sell know, and I will pass it on to her. She will love to hear from you!

Cadonas Trip!

A group of lucky pupils from P4 to P7 are having a day out at Cadonas tomorrow (Thurs 4th)  The trip is paid for by the Variety Club of Britain. They will leave early tomorrow on a coach. We are looking forward to hearing about their exciting and fun filled day!

Coffee Morning

Primary 3 had a coffee morning last Friday and they raised  over £300. Many parents came to buy a cup of tea or coffee and a piece. Parents really enjoyed the event. Primary 3 held this coffee evening because they wanted to raise money for Macmillan Cancer. Well done Primary 3!

Sharing Assemblies

This week it was the turn of P5a (Ms Barrerre’s class) and P6b (Mrs   Fitzpatrick’s  class) to share what they have been learning at the upper stages assembly.

P5B have been studying the BFG by Roald Dahl. They started to think about what giants might eat, and decided they might like brains and bones. They found out many interesting facts about the brain, including how much an adult brain weighs (over a kilo!) and which part of the brain do different jobs. They also found out about bones, such as how many bones in a adults body and the names of different types of bones. They created some lovely artwork about the BFG and found out about the author.

P6 read some exciting pieces of writing they had done over the term including a class collaboration (which we hope to post here soon). They told us about the Health Award they were working towards.

It was very interesting to hear what both classes had been doing.

Brazilian Music

Primary 4s have learnt about different types of brazilian music such as maracato and watched this You Tube clip;  Maracatu Nacao Pernambuco

They are learning a dance called the Ciranda; Ciranda dance

They also listened to “coco” music.

They have also been enjoying singing traditional scottish songs with Keith Cockburn.Three Craws

They are hoping to be able to perform their songs and dances to the school when they have finished their workshops.

Sharing Assemblies

Some classes have been sharing what they have been doing this term with the school at assembly.

Last week P7 told the school about their WW2 project. They showed models they had made of gas masks and Anderson Shelters. Everyone carried their own gas mask in a box in case of a gas attack. Some pets even had gas masks. They explained how every child who was evacuated had to wear a label saying who they were and where they came from.

We heard the noise of the siren that warned people about an air raid, telling them to hurry to their anderson shelter.

Then p4c recited their amusing poems that they wrote for Roald Dahl day. They were based on nursery rhymes and were very silly! We enjoyed listening to them.
