Classes for 2013-2014

Last Friday (14th) pupils spent the day meeting their new teachers in their new classrooms. Primary 7’s were also meeting new teachers and fellow pupils at The Gordon Schools as part of their three day visit.

Classes for next year are as follows:

Gotcha!

After completing a few weeks of training, a group of intrepid P6 and 7s are leaving this Thursday for an adventure in the Bin Forest. They will be spending the day walking to their destination, using maps and compasses to find their way. Once there, they will put up their tents and camp overnight in the Bin! They will be cooking their food on a camping stove. Mr Wood, Mrs McAdam, Miss Coutts will be joining them. We are sure they will have a great time and are looking forward to hearing about their experiences.

Primary 4 Castle Tour

On Wednesday 5th of  June 2013 P4c went  to the glorious Huntly  castle . Eight p6s were going to give us a tour. The p6s were called  Tour Guides. First they showed us the bit that the old Castle was.

They said that their sons were all called  George. Then we went in the freaky Castle and then we went down stairs to the dungeons. The prisoners got chucked into the dungeons.

Then we went up to the kitchen we all felt hungry at the kitchen . There was a boy with one side of his face black with the fire.

When we were half way we played a game called “Cooks Coming”. In the game you have to play instruments, beg for mercy or chisel the wall. We played it in the Lords Lodging. We got to see the toilets and some of the p4cs sat on the smelly toilets. They were really stinky.

Then we went up more stairs to the Ladies Lodging. There were two fire places. Then we went downstairs to go out to explore outside. Some people fought that the brew pit was a spa and also an old swimming pool.

Then we walked back . Alec’s mum came with them and Reef’s mum came as well.

We had an amazing time at the peregrine centre last week because there was lots of things to do. We learned that  the peregrines pluck the feather’s and then eats its pray then spits out the bones. We found out that an eagle eats a peregrine and a peregrine eats a heron. We went pond dipping Estera and Kajus caught a male newt and a female  newt and lots of different bugs. There was a stream so we had to find shrimps Jade, Zoe and Cerys found 30 in the coldest stream and 52 in the hotter stream. We did a challenge it was boys vs girls; we had to build a roundhouse . Nursery Babies!

The nursery eggs have hatched today and staff and pupils are delighted to have 5 brand new chicks. The children were able to watch the chicks slowly pecking their way out of their shells.

The chicks were very tired after their hard work and are resting now.

Nursery News

The nursery children have been finding out more about the school and the people in it, as part of their transition to Primary 1. They met important people in the school and found out what jobs they do. They also took photos of them.  People they met included the cooks, playground staff, the Janitor, the office staff and Mr Scrimshaw.

Chicken Man

As part of their project about Living Things  the Nursery children had a visit from a man who rears chickens.

He explained about how chickens grow in the egg and  how they hatch out. The children were able to watch the chickens and to gently stroke them to feel how soft and fluffy they were. Now they are even more excited for their own chicken eggs to hatch …not long now!

Nursery Bug Hunt

The nursery pupils were looking for bugs in the Nursery garden. They found worms, woodlice, snails and even a cat!!  The good places where they found lots of bugs were in the soil and under the fence. They observed the minibeasts carefully and talked about how it was important not to harm small creatures.
