ASC stands for Adventure Service Challenge. We P6B are doing ASC by making posters about a variety of things and then showing them to the class. We have done one about charities, Tudors, bugs and loads of other things. Right now we are doing one on safety in the kitchen because our next topic is going to be cooking over at the Linden Centre! 😀 By Libby x 😛
Classes in the school are doing kick boxing workshops this week, to give them a taster of kick boxing! Senser John McInnes taught the workshops. He is recently back from Sicily where ex pupil Rhianan Chisolm won a bronze medal in the kick boxing world championships!
Primary 4 classes enjoyed learning some basic moves. They enjoyed doing a warm up and stretches. They then learnt the Left Punch, the Right Punch and a Side Kick. Then they combined them all together while saying KI-A!
In the Nursery recently they have been celebrating St Andrews day. They have been enjoying highland dancing with Mrs Martins. Today they enjoyed Tattie soup and later on in the week they will be trying mince and tatties. They will be enjoying lots of other events to celebrate St Andrews Day over the week.
P6B has been learning about health and safety in the kitchen, we made leaflets all of them were amazing . Each group worked as a team to get the job finished.
Over 100 shoeboxes have been donated by pupils and parents at Gordon Primary School towards the New Hope Trust Christmas Shoebox Appeal. These boxes will be collected by the New Hope Trust who will deliver them to orphans in Romania. Each box contains items such as socks, gloves, toothbrushes and paste, soap, pens and paper. A group of P7 pupils worked with staff to pack and check all the boxes.
The nursery recently went for a walk around the school grounds to look at trees. They studied the leaves, looking at their shapes and the autumn colours. They looked at the bark of trees and felt their texture.
Tghey went to the shops to buy bird feeders, food to put in it and fat balls. Back at the nursery they filled the bird feeders with seeds and nuts, and hung them up in the nursery garden for the birds to enjoy.
P6b have been reading an amazing book by Roald Dahl, James And The Giant Peach!!
We are on chapter 5 so far and we did lots of activities relating to the book and we are all really enjoying them :D. P6A are also doing the same book but we don’t work together!!!
One of our bloggers have left to go to Dubai. She will return to Huntly and Gordon Primary in p7 and we hope she will come back with a smile and lots of pictures. We are hoping she will send us some information about Dubai . Thank you Amy for all your hard work on the blog; we will miss you!
The Fairtrade Elections will take place on the week of the 26th November 2012.
At the start of the elections everyone from each classs will choose who they want to be representative or vice representative for their class.
Reps and vice reps would attend a meeting every term to discuss FAIRTRADE in the school. They help decide what the school does over FAIRRADE fortnight. They might publicize FAIRTRADE events at assembly. P6 and 7 reps help out at a FAIRTRADE stall at parents evening.
We are hoping to start a FAIRTRADE tuckshop once a week and some reps would be able to help out with this.
