Church Service

We were all very lucky that the Church Service went ahead, as the Minister came to our school, instead of us going to the church (as it was far too wet!!)

We sung Come and Join the Celebration, Rock a Little Baby, Children all Over the World and Away in a Manger. We also prayed to thank Jesus for Christmas and a few of the P7s read the Christmas Story.

The Orchestra also played them a tune, which they all enjoyed.

Christmas Carol Orchestra Concert

Recently there was a School Orchestra Christmas Carol Concert. The Orchestra enjoyed it as much as the audience. There were violins, a cello, a flute, a clarinet, trumpets, a trombone and a piano.

Here are all the songs they played below –

Deck the Hall, God Rest You Merry Gentlemen, St Anthony Chorale ( not a Christmas carol but very nice). Good King Wenceslas, Away in a Manger and Hark the Herald Angels Sing.

The Orchestra is also going to be playing at the church on Friday.

Party Time!

All classes have been enjoying their Christmas parties. Classes have been busy practicing social dances in the weeks leading up to the parties.

Now at last they have been able to put on their party clothes and enjoy their parties. Primary 4 had a great party, dancing The Grand March, the Virginia Reel, the Gay Gordons and other traditional dances along with fun games such as a very energetic Pass the Parcel.

Primary 7 held their party in the evening and had a very successful dance with music kindly provided by Mr Mitchell on accordion.

Fairtrade News

The newly elected FAIRTRADE representatives met for their first meeting this week. They discussed taking part in a short assemblyintroducing themselves to the rest of the school.

They will be meeting again early next term to discuss the Fairtrade tuck shop and Fairtrade fortnight.

P6A Tudor Posters

All of the P6A pupils  have been making posters about Tudors.

As their project is Tudors they were given a task, to make a Poster on a Famous Tudor that their teacher (Mrs Barclay) had chosen. They have been working on the posters for about a month now and they are ready to show them to the class. They have been looking up information from books and the Internet. The whole class is looking forward to listening to all the information about each groups’  Famous Tudor.

Here are some pictures of the posters.

The nursery are doing a singalong for parents and carers. They are holding two performances today. They have been learning lots of songs for their performance including When Santa got stuck up the Chimney,  A chubby little snow man and Twinkle twinkle Little Star. They will  finish their performance with Jingle Bells. The audience will be invited to join in!

Good luck nursery  🙂

Schools will rock you

On Monday P6/7 classes and I went to Schools Will Rock You,  a musical put on by the pupils of the Gordon Schools. It was held in the big hall at the secondary and it started at half one and finished at three o ‘clock, but unfortunately we missed the end because we had to go home.

The story was about two people in love.  A lot of the cast wore tops that said gaga kids. There was lots of singing and dancing and it was great fun.
