Parent Update – October 2026

I cannot believe how quick the last 7 weeks have gone. What an extremely busy term we have had!

The children have been settling well into their new classroom routines and have been working hard with their learning.

🤩STAFF UPDATE🤩
We are delighted that both Mrs Fleming and Mrs Dempster have and will be returning to Grange on phased returns following the October break. Mrs Dempster will be in class (P5b) on Thursdays and Fridays and Mrs Fleming will be working across the school in various roles.
Miss Hannah Nicoll will be also joining us at Grange, as a teacher 4 days a week. Miss Nicoll will cover RCT and P3b at the end of the week as Mrs Houston has this term. We will share a photo of Miss Nicoll with each of the classes she will be working with on the first day back.

📈Consultations
I shared the parent and staff feedback from our consultations at our recent Parent Engagement Meeting and these can been seen in the minutes above. Since then we have also surveyed the children.
The children have voted for the following:
Christmas Cinema 77% vs TheatreTrip 33%
Christmas Cheer 54% vs Christmas Show 46%
We will go with the cinema this year and alternate next year with a theatre trip as voted for by parents.
P5-7 children voted against a residential in P7:
Miss McInally has consulted this week with P7 on ideas and activities for Fun Week and we will start getting these booked early next term and be in touch regarding this very soon.

👻Halloween Discos
We are delighted that the Parent Engagement Group are organising Halloween discos for P3-7 on the evening of Thursday 29th October. We will start at 5.30pm with a sensory friendly disco where music will be quieter. We would ask that an adult accompanies any child attending the sensory friendly disco.
To book your place, please transfer £2 per child into our school fund account by 24th October giving your child’s name and class (if possible) as reference.

Account Number: 00389847
Sort Code: 80-05-80
Following on from feedback last session, we feel that P1 &2 will have a more enjoyable time having Halloween Parties on Friday 30th October during the school day. Children can wear dressing up outfits for this and no payment will be taken.
(no masks or weapons please)

👮‍♀️Uniform – Winter Coats and Footwear

As we approach the colder weather, please could we ask that children bring and wear a coat as we do like to get the children outside as much as possible. This is also the time of year when the grass does get wet and slippy.

It would be helpful, as with previous years, for all children to have a pair of gym plimsoles (please avoid any other types of shoes)  to wear as indoor shoes. These will also be used for indoor gym and help protect our gym hall floor and keep our school floors clean. **Please note that slippers and Crocs are not suitable footwear**

🛑Safety

Please can we ask that when collecting children from school  and that you vacate the playground as quick as possible and refrian from playing on the equipment. Our after school club have a let in with Angus Council to use the school grounds and equipment and for safety reasons no other children or adults should be about.

Please can we also ask you to only enter the playground just before the bell at the end of the day as we can have classes outside continuing their learning of outdoor PE.

We have had a few calls recently regarding people parking across driveways in neighbouring streets and please could we ask that you are considerate when parking.
