Zumbathon

Today the whole school took part in a sponsored zumbathon. It ws arranged by the Parent Council to raise funds for the school.

Each class went to the hall at an allotted time to take part in half an hour of zumba. Mrs Cranston, our P.E. teacher took the morning groups and Zumba Instructor Clare took the afternoon groups.

We were the last group of the day, together with the P2/3 class.

It was great fun. We are looking forward to seeing how much money we have raised next week.

Superstar Soup

We have learned that to keep our Moshi Monsters happy we have to feed them every day and give them healthy food.

We are also learning that to keep ourselves healthy and happy we have to eat the right types and combinations of foods.

Today we had a special visitor. Mrs Fiona Dawson, an Education Catering Advisor from our local authority, came to give us a special workshop on preparing and making our own soup.

Jack and Kristin’s mums came in to help us too.

We had to wash our hands properly and put on special plastic aprons. We knew all about this as we have been learning about the importance of good hygiene when preparing food.

Mrs Dawson showed us how to use a very sharp knife safely to chop up our vegetables. We had to peel and chop carrots, potatoes, turnip and leeks. We all worked in our groups to do this and everyone had turns.

We added water and stock powder and then left the soup to cook. After lunchtime, we were able to taste our soup. It was yummy!

A big thank you to Mrs Dawson for a very enjoyable morning. Thank you too, to Jack and Kristin’s mums for coming in to help us.

Friday Superstars

Star of the Week

Every Friday we award certificates to our Group of the Week and Star of the Week. They are all children in our class who have been trying really hard with their work and behaviour.

The group of the week have a special trophy that sits on their desk all week.

The Star of the Week gets to choose something from Mrs Stewart’s special prize box.

Each week we can can also earn raffle tickets by following our class and school rules. On Friday, Mrs Stewart picks one raffle ticket from her box to be the winner and they can also choose a prize from the special box. Of course, the more raffle tickets we earn, the more chances we have of winning!

Well done to this week’s Friday Superstars. Keep up the good work.
