Kerpoof animation

Today we were learning how to make a single frame animation using Kerpoof.

This is a really cool website, which is free to use, and which allows you to do all sorts of creative things.

We were creating animations with a fairytale theme.

Our challenge was to make at least one of the characters move across the screen. We could also add actions and music.

We really enjoyed this and are going to keep practising so we can perhaps make animations with more than one frame.

Little Red Riding Hood Bee Bot Mats

Here are some pictures of the Bee Bot mats we made for Little Red Riding Hood. We are thinking of making some little red capes for our Bee Bots so they look the part!

We will be using them in maths next week to explore directions and also for grid references.

Little Red Riding Hood Maths

We have been learning about position in maths and language.

We found out that the position of something tells you where it is. We worked together to make a list of position words such as over, in, above, below etc.

Mrs Stewart told us that these words are also called prepositions.

We worked in groups of four to illustrate our understanding of these words.

We each had a character from Little Red Riding Hood. We each made a separate poster in our group of four. We made a collage or drew a picture and added a sentence with a position word. Then we put all four posters together to make one big poster. We attached our fairytale character to the middle by a piece of ribbon. This meant that we could move our character to the place indicated in the poster.

We are now making Red Riding Hood themed Bee Bot mats. We will post some more pictures once we have finished.

Dear diary …

Today we were writing Little Red Riding Hood’s diary, for the day she went to visit Granny, and bumped into that very wicked wolf …

Mrs Stewart gave us the start and we had to continue writing the diary from there.

We had to imagine that we were Little Red Riding Hood doing the writing.

We also had to remember that we could not put in the part about the wolf eating Granny because we were still walking through the forest when that part of the story happened.

It was a wee bit tricky, but we worked hard and did a great job.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears Writing

We have been doing lots of writing projects for the latest fairytale that the Dragon sent us.

We created some “Wanted” posters for that naughty girl Goldilocks. They can be seen around the school at the moment.

020 — The reward for finding Goldilocks is 5 pence.

We had to try to think of different places where Goldilocks might have been seen last. Two suggestions were at the honey shop and at the hairdressers!

We wrote newspaper articles to report the very serious crime that had taken place at the 3 Bear’s house. We had to think about the questions who, when, where and what when we were writing them.

Some of us sequenced the story and wrote sentences to match.

The Superstars have also written recipes for the 3 Bear’s porridge. This is the first time we have written instructions this year but we did a great job.
