Nativity and Concert

Mary, Joseph and the Donkey

At the beginning of the week we presented our nativity play to parents and friends. The cast was made up of pupils from the Primary 1-3 classes.

Our nativity was followed by a concert of Christmas songs from the older children and the school choir.

We had an afternoon and an evening performance.

We all worked really hard to learn our words and songs and got lots of nice comments afterwards.

We created these “Rudolph at the Window” pictures today.

Will Rudolph be bringing a special visitor to your house soon?

Graphing

In maths, we are learning how to collect and organise data, display the information in a graph and interpret information from the graph.

Last week, as part of our “Around our School” topic, we collected data about how we had travelled to school. We organised the information in a table and used this to produce graphs. We learned that graphs have a title, labels and a scale.

We used the same information in our ICT lessons to create a graph.

We have been working on different kinds on graphs this week and are becoming more independent in organising our information and answering questions about it.

Some of us worked on Snowman graphs.

Snowman parts

We had to count how many different part of the snowman we had and show the number with tally marks in a table.

Others worked on animal graphs.

Zumbathon

Today the whole school took part in a sponsored zumbathon. It ws arranged by the Parent Council to raise funds for the school.

Each class went to the hall at an allotted time to take part in half an hour of zumba. Mrs Cranston, our P.E. teacher took the morning groups and Zumba Instructor Clare took the afternoon groups.

We were the last group of the day, together with the P2/3 class.

It was great fun. We are looking forward to seeing how much money we have raised next week.

We are looking at different kinds of houses as part of our “Around our School” topic.

Here are some houses of our own that we made using paper lunch bags. The Superstars added lots of their own details to mke each one unique. They look fantastic!
