Here is our finished display of the trolls, after we had added their bodies.
We also added the advice that we gave to the troll on how to make friends.
They are in the entrance foyer of our school. Don’t trip trap too close!!
Today, we received a letter from the Troll!!
He told us that he was very unhappy because he had no friends and was a bit lonely living under a cold, smelly bridge. The Troll asked if the Superstars could give him some advice on how to make some friends. Some of the Superstars felt so sorry for him they decided they would make the Troll their friend.
Here’s a selection of their advice.
“Dear Mr Troll, if you wash your hands and wash your body and cut your nails every day you will be nice and clean and people will like you.” Kyle
“Dear Mrs Troll, if I come trip trapping over your bridge I will give you a sweet and then I will be your friend.” Ellamae
“Dear Mr Troll, you should be a nicer troll and be kind. Do not shout at people and show them respect.” Kaitlyn
“Dear Mr Troll, I think you should come to my class and play with me.” Jack
Here are some pictures of us pondering our advice!
One of our Superstars has been very busy at home over the past few weeks.
First, he built this beanstalk at his Granny’s house.
Jack is climbing the beanstalk and can you see the rocket at the side to take him quickly to the top?
Last Friday the whole class made some troll heads.
Well, we were going to leave them like that but then we saw this idea …
We thought this troll was amazing and liked this Superstar’s idea so much that we are going to add bodies to ours too.
We will post some pictures when we are finished.
Mrs Stewart loves having such a creative class!
The school council have been thinking about things we can do during wet playtimes and lunchtimes. They are thinking about giving a special box to each class with things they would like to do.
We often use sticky notes to record our thoughts in class but today we used a special application called Padlet (formerly called Wallwisher).
We think this has lots of uses and will be using it to plan our learning very soon!
We got some lovely feedback on our blog from the Times Educational Supplement’s iboard and they have been tweeting about us on their Twitter feed. Here is what they have been saying.

Thank you i-board. We have just seen your paint a dragon resource for Chinese New Year and will be using it when we are back at school on Wednesday!
Superstars, use this link to practise some Fairytale activities at home.
You can watch and listen to the story of “Goldilocks and the 3 Bears”, create a scene from Goldilocks or practise some 3 bears measurement.
Have fun!
The Dragon has not been for a little while and we were missing him. We were glad that he had visited us again last night and left us some new presents.
First of all, he left us some castle folders to decorate and to hold all the fantastic writing we have been doing.
He also left us a new fairytale – “The Three Billy Goats Gruff” – and some new puppets and mask to retell the story.
We read Jonathan Langley’s version of the story and also looked at one online.
We talked about the problem and solution in the story and made these story maps.
In the afternoon we made some road signs, using Publisher, to warn the trolls away from the bridge (or around the school!).
The Superstars have been producing some fantastic work as part of their creative spelling challenge. Here is some of their recent work completed at home.
Today was the Superstar’s turn to do an assembly in front of the whole school.
We decided to do a drama presentation of one of the favourite books we have read in class – “Wolf’s Magnificent Master Plan” by Melanie Williamson.
The book tells the story of a wolf who needs some new teeth. He hatches a plan to hypnotise lambs into using their own wool to knit jumpers, and then he plans to sell them in his shop to get lots of money. With the money, the wolf plans to buy new teeth and ….
You will need to read the book to find out!! Needless to say, the lambs have a cunning plan too!!!
Most of us were lambs in the play so we made ourselves some lamb headbands earlier in the week.
Our narrators did an excellent job.
Our wolf was magnificent!
We all worked really hard and did a brilliant job on the day.
A special thank you to all the mums and dads and grannies who did a wee bit of knitting and provided knitting needles and wool.
Baaa!
We have been doing lots of writing projects for the latest fairytale that the Dragon sent us.
We created some “Wanted” posters for that naughty girl Goldilocks. They can be seen around the school at the moment.
We had to try to think of different places where Goldilocks might have been seen last. Two suggestions were at the honey shop and at the hairdressers!
We wrote newspaper articles to report the very serious crime that had taken place at the 3 Bear’s house. We had to think about the questions who, when, where and what when we were writing them.
Some of us sequenced the story and wrote sentences to match.
The Superstars have also written recipes for the 3 Bear’s porridge. This is the first time we have written instructions this year but we did a great job.
Here is our writing wall in the classroom. Can you spot the porridge bowls we made last week?
