Last Week’s Work

A Busy Week in Primary 3!

We started our week by measuring our cress plants and documenting their growth in our individual cress diaries. We have also had the chance to develop our understanding of the Eat Well Guide and the 5 different food groups within it. At the end of our Eat Well Guide lesson we were introduced to a famous painter called Giuseppe Arcimboldo. The children were shown paintings by the famous painter and then had the opportunity to create their own fruit and vegetable portraits. To finish off our week, we participated in a class food tasting session that included fruits and vegetables. After our food tasting session was finished,  we created some still life drawings of our chosen fruit. Today we have been learning all about the Hindu festival of light – Diwali! During our lesson today we used clay to create Diwali diya lamps of our own.

Our Work This Week

Yesterday in class during our Topic on Food and Health,  we looked closely at the importance of washing our hands. As a class we completed a scientific experiment on why soap is important and how it stops the spread of germs. Our experiment included water, ground pepper and dish soap. The children had a fantastic time learning about germs and how to prevent them spreading. The ground pepper and soap allowed the children to visualize what soap does to the germs on our hands.

You can practise these targets each day.

Our Work This Week

Today we got to examine how much our plants have grown and updated our Cress Diaries! We used rulers to measure how many centimetres tall our cress is and made scientific drawings of what the plants look like. We also discussed plants that we are growing at home with our families. Please feel free to post any photos (on Google Classroom) of plants that you are growing at home.

CLIC and Spelling

Good morning everyone.

I hope that you had a lovely long weekend. As this is a very short week, there are no new CLIC Targets. You can go over the targets from last week for revision if you like. There will not be new spelling sounds this week either. Instead, we will be trying a few new Literacy activities. Please remember to send your child with their book bag tomorrow (Thursday) so that we can change out the reading books.
Many thanks!
