Week beginning 28.11.16

This will be another busy week for P3 as we continue with our preparations for the Christmas concert. Please practice any words to be read and song words at home.
Our class assembly went well last week and the children all enjoyed it. Have a look at our photos below.

Reading – The children will get 2 new books this week on Monday and Thursday. Thursday’s book will not be read in school, but can be read at home. We have another visit to Kincorth library booked for our reading time on Thursday.

–  Doubling 2 digit numbers

C – Multiplication by repeated addition

 

Our focus for other maths work this week is multiplication again.

Week beginning 21.11.16

This will be a busy week for P3 as we will be getting prepared for our class assembly on Friday and preparations are also underway for the Christmas concert. The children all have a copy of the song words home with them.

Much of our work this week will be assembly related, involving reading, talking, listening, art work and sharing what we have learned about the Ancient Egyptians.

Topic – Last week the children were busy finishing their falcon necklaces to wear for our assembly. We also started to make Pharaoh headdresses.

Topic – Last week the children found out about mummification. We found out that different organs from the body were put in canopic jars, each with a different head.

We also started to make Ancient Egyptian necklaces with a falcon – the sun god Ra.

We used a painted paper plate for the wings, then stuck on straws for decoration.

Our focus for other maths work this week is to finish off our work on grid references and coordinates. Then we will move on to angles, thinking about right angles, and comparing sizes of an angle to these.
