Week beginning 27.3.17

Here we are at the last week of this term. Miss Lyon has now finished this block of her placement with us and will be back in May for 4 weeks.  School finishes for the holidays on Friday 31st March at 3.00pm and we return on Tuesday 18th April.

This week we will be attending church on Friday at 10.30am.

Spelling test will be on Thursday this week so homework should be completed by then. Some of the children have an extra spelling challenge again in their homework book.

Topic – This week we will round off our topic of senses and do some activities related to Easter.

This week we have achiever’s assembly on Friday where we celebrate achievements out of school. Please bring in any medals, certificates or trophies to show at the assembly.

Our focus for other maths work this week is number. We will be looking at place value of numbers to 100 then 1000. The children will be writing numbers, thinking about what number comes before or after and calculating 10 or 100 more or less.

Topic – This week we will focus on the sense of touch. We will be exploring different textures and identifying objects by the sense of touch alone.

French – This week we will again focus on asking each other questions in short conversations.  We will consolidate –

Quel age as-tu?     How old are you?

J’ai sept ans.       I am seven years old.

We will also revise the numbers 1-12 as we use them in our age questions.

Topic – This week we will focus on the sense of smell. We will be trying to work out what things are by smell alone. The children will also find out how it is closely related to the sense of taste.

This week we are having a fitness fun day  on Friday. Please come to school in your sports clothes and bring £1.
