On Tuesday afternoon this week we are going up to Kincorth Library to swap our books.

Letter Sounds

This week our sounds are oi as in coin and point and ue as in rescue and statue. Letter sound oi homework should be completed for Wednesday and letter sound ue homework should be completed by Friday. 

Common Words

Please keep revising word walls 1-3. Word wall 4 is now in the white book for revision at home.

Words for this week are then and that. Please complete the common word homework for Thursday.  Your child should write the number after counting the words together and also try to write the words.

Reading

The children will get 2 new books this week on Monday and Thursday. We will continue with the Oxford Reading Tree Decode and Develop set of books this week.

Maths

This week we will continue with number work. Our focus for written maths will be addition and number to 10.

 

As part of our Big Maths we do CLIC sessions in the class which now in Primary 1 involve C – counting  L – learn its I – it’s nothing new and C – calculations.

Counting – counting forwards and backwards

Learn its –  1 + 1 = 2,  2 + 2 = 4,  3 + 3 = 6,  4 + 4 = 8,  5 + 5 = 10

It’s Nothing New – doubling 1 digit numbers

Calculations – division sharing out equal amounts

Topic

This week the children will be sorting animals into groups for those that live in the sea or on land or both. We will continue to listen to and watch Rainbow Fish stories.
