Maki Football Tournament in Campbeltown
Thursday the 24th October was bright and clear for the first day back after the holidays. Four LHS Football teams left school at 9am to head to Campbeltown for a day of football. The Junior girls were a bit overwhelmed in the first game but soon gained in confidence to finish a creditable 3rd. The Junior boys had a nail-biting competition. They had scored 28 goals – so did Campbeltown, they had five goals score against them and so did Campbeltown, so it came down to when they played each other and Campbeltown had the edge by one goal so LHS were Runners Up. The Senior girls had a very good tournament and were also Runners Up. The Senior boys were the best team on the day and came home with the Champions’ Trophy. A great day was had by all!
Nature of Scotland Awards 2013
On Wednesday 30th October representatives from Snapberry of Lochgilphead Joint Campus in collaboration with SNH went to the RSPB Nature of Scotland Awards at the Sheraton Hotel in Edinburgh. We were finalists in the Community Initiative category, the category with the largest number of entries from across Scotland and were absolutely thrilled with 2nd place and the highly commended award!
Many Thanks to the SNH team and School staff who make Snapberry possible.
The rowing club from Lochgilphead High School finally made it to Duncuan Island which is the island in opposite Ardrishaig on the east side of Loch Gilp. Anyone who fancies rowing to even more exotic locations please speak to Mr Ohnstad to have a go. Beginners welcome.
Student Council Representatives for 2013 –2014
Congratulations to ‘Talk Show Hosts’, Luke Schofield, Ewen McCulloch, Ewan Glendinning and Mark Stark, of Lochgilphead High School, who secured themselves a support slot for the ‘Skerryvore’ gig in Dalmally on Saturday December 28th, with a storming set at the Battle of the Bands on Saturday night. If you want to cheer the boys on, and believe me, they’re well worth supporting, you can order tickets for the Christmas gig from Mr. Powell – £15.00 – cheap at twice the price to get you in the mood for Hogmanay ! But be quick about it, they’re selling fast.
There’s a lot going on at Lochgilphead Joint Campus!
I’m especially impressed by Lorna Unkles. What a fantastic achievement. A very difficult challenge for anyone, not least someone still at school. Well done!
