On Friday of last week some very excited children from our school arrived at the Your Radio Studios in Dumbarton. The visit was part of our Interdisciplinary topic on Entertainment.
Gary Pews, Head of the news Team met us and we began the guided tour – with a difference! We got to sit in on Dean Park’s 9-12 live broadcast, spoke “live” on the radio, recorded ourselves in the Newsroom (with Colin Stone), took part in a News quiz, met George Aitchison (presenter of Breakfast Show) had a request played and had various mentions on air throughout the day. What a fantastic opportunity! As Tina Turner would sing, our day was simply “The Best”. We were very well looked after By Yazz (12-3 slot) and Mhairi (Receptionist) who made sure we had a snack/drink and gave us lots of goodies on the way out.

Fantastic to see so many budding DJs for the future. I listen to YOUR radio all of the time but unfortunately I was teaching in Garelochhead Primary and didn\’t hear you. BUT….. my husband was raving about how great you all were when I got home because he heard all about you! Well Done from Ms Hughes and all of her P7/6 pupils. Rock on!!
What a fabulous experience Primary 6/7! I must admit I’m very jealous, I would love to meet the DJs and find out how the radio station works. It sounds like you had great fun.
