On Friday the 21st of June everyone at Port Charlotte Primary arrived at school dressed up in their favourite dance outfits. P3/4 went to all the classes, collected the £2 donation to Macmillan Cancer Care then totalled the amount. We raised an amazing £122.56. Thank you Macmillan your dance DVD was fun. The assembly on Friday began with a whole school warm up dance session following the movements that we had learnt during the week. Each class also performed a class dance to their own choice of music.
Some interesting choices from a Boogie Woogie dance in nursery to Line Dancing in P1/2. Primary 3/4 chose to dance to a topical song about seasons adding their own group dances from Hip Hop to Bollywood while P5/6/7 chose to ‘wave their flag’, a popular choice with the audience. Dress up and dance day was part of our school ‘Physical Activity Week’. We had a very busy week jammed packed with energetic activities to get us moving and grooving. It was a full timetable of dance and athletic and sport activities to keep us all active. Each day come rain or shine (and there is a lot of rain on Islay) the children excitedly engaged in these activities.
Our athletic theme was to achieve individual personal bests in a range of activities such as sprints, hurdles, middle and long distance runs, shot put, discus and long jump. The dance centred around ‘Dress up and Dance Day’ an activity to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Our annual Sports Day with races was held in sports facilities in the local community. Thank you to all the children for trying your very best!
Sounds fantastic fun. Well done to everyone.
