St Joseph’s Scoops the Double!

Two pupils from St Joseph’s Primary School in Helensburgh won both available prizes from the primary section of the Helensburgh Garelochside’s Rotary Club ‘Helensburgh Young Photographer 2013’ competition recently. All children who took part in the competition were invited to the Rosslea Hotel on the evening of Monday 10 June where the winners were announced. A number of the St Joseph’s children and their parents attended and were delighted to see Charlotte O’Hara of P6 take the runner-up prize with Hannah Thomson of P7 lifting the winning plaque. Both girls and their parents were delighted!

The theme of the competition was “Green Scotland” and children were to decide their own ideas for their entries. Spectacular yet simple entries went in from all children in the school who decided to enter, with each of them receiving a certificate for their interest in the competition. The judge , John Young, who was previously a professional photographer with a national newspaper took time beforehand to come to school to give some advice on good photography.

Only two prizes in the primary section were available for all the schools which took part: Winner and Runner-up. St. Joseph’s is basking in yet another well-deserved win by Hannah and Charlotte! No doubt plenty of budding photographers in the school have been inspired by the girls’ success!
