The pupils and parents of Sandbank Primary could hardly contain their excitement last week as four chicks hatched in the primary 1/2 class. For three weeks the children counted down the days eagerly awaiting their arrival. Finally on Sports Day, and to the delight of everyone, Sporty, Shelly and Fluffy hatched. The next morning the children arrived into class to find a crack appearing on another egg. Throughout the day regular updates were relayed around the school and at 3:15pm Skye finally hatched!
To add to the excitement, a curious thing happened in the school grounds. A flying crow dropped an egg which was spotted and rescued by two eagle eyed primary 7 girls. Straight away the egg was put into the incubator to keep warm. Now the pupils are waiting to see if it will hatch and if it does what species of bird it will be. Is it a crow, a pheasant………..or is this the Ugly Duckling?
wonderful opportunity for the children, so glad the whole school was able to enjoy the chicks
