Tayvallich Primary School and Kilmartin House Museum hosted a medieval day of fun, for their Northern Irish friends from Mill Strand Integrated Primary. We did a round robin of activities, which included medieval cooking outside (which tasted fantastic!), a tour of Dun Mhuirich (where we showed everyone the medieval house which had been discovered), made a graveslab each for a medieval soldier with clay and we learnt some Scottish Country Dancing with Mary and John Gillies (which came in useful later!).
At night we had a great feast, followed by a ceilidh. The dancing was one of the highlights and everyone joined in . At the end we sang Auld Lang Syne to round off a wonderful day.
What a fantastic project! Kilmartin House Museum are great- they are doing some excellent work. We’re looking forward to taking you to Dun Mhuirich today by canoe- approaching it just like they did hundreds of years ago. http://www.stramash.org.uk
