World Book Day at St Joseph’s Primary

World Book Day at St. Joseph’s Primary School in Helensburgh on Thursday 7 March was a wonderful success. The children came dressed as a character from their favourite book which prompted lots of discussion in all classes about books and literacy. New literary interests were sparked as children were given various opportunities to share their knowledge on their favourite books and other children were able to question them on their choices.

The staff gave the children ample opportunities to explore literacy in a fun and interesting way and it was a delight to see so many happy faces identifying different characters in their class. As chance would have it, a new family had come to visit the school that day as the Head Teacher had invited them for a walk round to help their child feel more at home before she starts school at St Joseph’s. The whole family visiting was so impressed by the literacy and creativity on display in the school and were delighted to visit on a day which was full of so much obvious fun!
