St. Joseph’s Consult on the Local Hermitage Park Development

St Josephs PS Herm Park 1Representatives of the St Joseph’s Pupil Council and Eco Committee from P4, 5 & 6 went on a fact finding trip to the Victoria Halls last week.

Ambitious plans for the redevelopment of Hermitage Park were unveiled and the St Joseph’s pupils wanted to make sure that the interests of children just like them were heard.


St Josephs herm Park 2The children examined the three proposals as well as pictures of the park in its prime and the present day. The children were excited by some of the proposals and grilled the architects who had designed the new plans. The children wanted to make sure that there were lots of opportunities for outdoor learning as well as leisure pursuits. St Joseph’s is currently focusing on opportunities for outdoor learning and the children had lots of suggestions for the final outcome of the park.

St Josephs Herm Park 3The architects commented on how engaged and knowledgeable the children were and were delighted by some of the innovative suggestions made by them.
