In 2011 CAST renovated and relaunched an important art collection held within our schools and last year we ran a successful writing competition using the collection as inspiration.
The competition now OPEN and in its second year and we are delighted to announce it has continued support from Scottish Book Trust.
There will be first, second and third prizes of books for pupils. The winning pupil’s school will also receive £250 worth of books. Winning pieces will be posted online as part of the Argyll Collection website and on SAL.
This year’s theme is INSIDE or OUTSIDE MY HOUSE
Who is the competition for?
The competition is open to all primary schools wthin Argyll & Bute.
Entries are invited from second level pupils.
What do I have to do?
Teachers are asked to encourage your pupils to write a piece of imaginative prose (short story) inspired by one of the works in the collection and incorporating the following theme:

Let your pupils choose one image from a group of 6 pictures.
The 6 images can be viewed by visiting the website www.argyllcollection.com
and going to the ‘competition’ section. Click on the image thumbnails at the bottom of the page then click ‘next’ to run through them. They can be displayed on your whiteboards/screens. Right click on any image to save to your computer.
Each school can submit up to 3 pieces, to be decided in any way you chose – why not run a mini competition?
