St Joseph’s Wins Local Street Naming Competition!

Recently Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) ran a local competition to name a new housing development in Helensburgh and invited local schools to take part. This month Ms. Collins, Head Teacher of St. Joseph’s, received information from ACHA to inform her that St. Joseph’s had won the competition! The whole school was delighted! A P7 pupil had submitted the winning entry and as a result ‘Duchess Court’ has been chosen by ACHA as the name they wish to submit for the naming of the new development next to Hood Court.

Although, both ACHA and the school recognised that the Council had the final decision on the name of the development, we were delighted to learn recently that they too had decided to adopt the name of Duchess Court for the development – all at St Joseph’s are celebrating the win!

As a result of winning the competition, the school received £75.00 worth of vouchers to purchase new resources from Amazon from ACHA. Ms Collins said, ” We are delighted that the name entered by a pupil at our school has won, it will be a life long legacy for St. Joseph’s. The community is very important to us and it is a real pleasure to think we may have a lasting influence on the naming of a new housing development in the area – that’s the real prize!’.
