The P5,6,7 class in Bunessan Primary have worked hard to raise money to refurbish the War Memorial which stands just outside their playground. The children have been completely overwhelmed by the support they received for this project and last week stage one of the refurbishment was completed when Oban Memorials were able to clean the stone and repaint the letters. Ross Kirsop kindly donated the scaffolding and the Fire Brigade made sure that there was enough water for the pressure washer.
For the first time in many years the names on the memorial are now legible. Hopefully there will be enough money left to buy a bench, or two, so that people can rest and admire the memorial as well as the spectacular view of Mull and neighbouring islands. The children would be delighted if you visit the memorial any time you are passing.
What a lovely gesture especially since this is the centenary of the start of ww1 and 70 years since the Normandy landings in ww2. It is particularly poignant as the Ross of Mull have had a fallen soldier in recent conflicts too. Well done to all involved.
