Victorians in Rothesay

P5/6 have been studying the Victorians this term and we have found that Rothesay was very much developed by the Victorians. We worked with Paul Duffy from Brandanii Archaeology and Heritage to explore the town. We studied maps from as early as the 1350s to see the changes in Rothesay. We all went out for a walk around town with Paul to see all the Victorian influences. We found out that a lot of the land at the seafront has been reclaimed and that during Victorian times, people loved to come ‘Doon the Watter’ for their holidays! It was a successful project and we loved working with Paul.
