Strachur Primary is celebrating its centenary this year.
We’ve been learning about the history of the village and enjoyed a walk in the past, suitably dressed in our 1912 outfits, which the Strachur History Society made for us. We also visited Scotland Street Museum. We’re glad we go to school in 2012!
We invited former pupils to share their memories, good and bad, of their days at school and we enjoyed showing them how we learn now.
We were very pleased to welcome Miss Logan, who is in her nineties and taught at Strachur. Her memories of her days at Strachur were fascinating.
Mr Francis Plowden (remember the Plowden report?) traveled from England to help us bury our time capsule, which will hopefully be unearthed again in fifty years’ time.
What a great project, and I especially loved the sepia photograph. We are going to look at Victorian children next year, so I would love to borrow this idea. Thank you.
