St Joseph’s Choir join LoCCo for a Community Performance

Saturday 29 March, 2014 was a ‘first’ for St Joseph’s Primary School choir. Aptly named ‘St Joseph’s Dynamic Diamonds’, the children sang for the first time with LoCCo – Lomond and Clyde Community Orchestra – for the community of Helensburgh at the Victoria Halls.

Usually an a cappella group, the children brought a tear to the eyes of the audience with their rendition of ‘Send in the Clowns’ in conjunction with the entire orchestral ensemble. In addition, the children performed ‘Senwa Dedende’, ‘I Wanna Be Like You’ and ‘Chim Chim Cheree’, under the excellent guidance and tutelage of Mrs Helen Innes (parent and music teacher).

What was even more awesome was that neither choir nor orchestra had rehearsed together until the morning of the concert! However, as Mrs Innes is now the newly appointed conductor of the orchestra and the children’s choir leader in school, she did a marvellous job of liaising and preparing both separately so that they sounded marvellous together on the day.

In the audience on Saturday was St Joseph’s Primary School’s Head Teacher, Ms Michelle Collins. Ms Collins said’ “I was so proud of the children and so grateful to Helen for all her hard work. Working for the benefit of the community is very important to us at St Joseph’s……the children did us all proud!”

  1. They made us very proud. They sang beautifully and behaved perfectly. Well done to everyone and a big thank you to Mrs Innes for all her hard work with them!
