LOCHGILPHEAD JOINT CAMPUS KITCHEN HELPS COUNCIL TO ACHIEVE AWARD

We know how good our school meals are and how much effort the catering staff put into making tasty food which appeals to pupils but also promotes sustainability and healthy eating. It was no surprise therefore that a visit to the kitchen by the Soil Association assessor was instrumental in securing the Bronze Food for Life Catering Mark for the council.

The assessor was particularly impressed by the support of the staff for growing and using our own fruit, vegetables and herbs, all of which regularly feature on the canteen menu. As far as possible, meals are made with fresh ingredients and the large number of pupils of all ages who opt for school menus is an accolade in itself.

The pupils and staff on campus are very lucky to have such a dedicated and cheerful team who serve up wholesome, delicious food everyday and support us strongly in our Eco efforts. It is great to get some external acknowledgement of their value and professionalism.
