St. Mun’s Launch New Whole School IDL

Tuesday 7th January saw the official launch of their new whole school IDL on Scotland. Planning for the project involved staff, pupils, parents and carers and the parish of Our Lady and St. Mun’s who were all asked to put their heads together to help plan and share skills, which would ensure the children would get the most out of their learning. The project was kicked off with a whole school celebration of all things Scottish, including a display of Ceilidh dancing from the Primary 3-5s and a visit from, a friend of the school, Alex Pollock, who told the children about the origin of Tartan and the kilt. The children then feasted on Haggis, Neeps and Tatties, while they were serenaded by Alex, who treated them to a selection of Scottish songs.

Scotland’s heritage and history will be examined using a variety of themed projects including Katie Morag, Celtic design, Scots language  and The Clydebank Blitz, to name but a few. With Burns night fast approaching the children are finding out all about their National Bard and will celebrate his life at a special Assembly on Friday.
