P.2 Blog Update!

In P.2jm and P.2cw we have been working hard to learn our lines for P.2 – 4 show on the 13th of March! We have been spending time practicing ours songs and learning the dances to go along with these.

In topic, we have been having lots of fun! We have been becoming Knights by creating swords, shields and armour. We have also been looking at the structure of a castle and designing our own castles inspired by the work of artist Paul Klee.

We have been busy in numeracy learning our 2 and 5 times tables by looking at different strategies such as grouping or arrays. In maths, we have been looking at 3D shapes and how many faces these shapes have. We also built our own 3D shapes using nets.

In literacy, we are still reading our non-fiction books and finding out interesting facts each week! We have also been looking at putting words into alphabetical order.

Both P.2jm (19th of March) and P.2cw (5th of March) have a trip to Edinburgh Castle organised. We are really looking forward to this fun and exciting day so we can learn more about our topic! Forms for this will be given out this week.

P7h Blog It

Abigail  – On Wednesday 30th January we went to Edinburgh to visit the Risk Factory.

Ross – We were split into different groups of about 5 or 6 of us. I thought it was amazing!

Lewis – We went into different rooms and saw risks that can happen in real life and how we can handle them. I enjoyed the experience.

Jessica – We were put into real life situations and experienced different risks within day to day life. I absolutely loved it.

Brodie – I found the Risk Factory enjoyable and we were put into groups with a tour guide, who took us around all the different situations. In my group there was Matthew, Billy, Malcolm, Lucy B, Milosz, Holly and myself.

Mason – At the end I was the bus driver and I crashed the bus! I found it a very good experience.

Blog 7.2.19 Learning about Boats!

Hello everyone
This week in our transport topic, the class wanted to learn about boats, in particular, speed boats! We looked at different videos and encyclopaedias where we discovered lots of different boats such as sail boats, kayaks and canoes!
It got us thinking about different things you might find on a boat…including the essentials like life jackets and life rings. We decided as a class to make our own class life jacket. For this, we needed to investigate what kind of materials would be good to help the life jacket float. We discovered that empty plastic water bottles were best for the job! Lyle worked out that a full water bottle would sink in water.
Below are some pictures of us investigating materials that float/don’t float and a little peek at our life jacket which is still in the process of being made.
Thanks to Jack for taking the photos!
