P3HW Blog update

Hello,

Here is what P3HW have been up to recently!

In numeracy, we have been working very hard on our times tables. We have been using lots of resources like cubes to help us understand our times tables and we have been working hard to remember them. In Maths, we have been learning all about 3D shapes and linking this to what we know about 2D shapes, drawing around the faces of a 3D shape to see what 2D shape we get.

In Writing we have been focusing on the story of Hansel and Gretel. We have been making Missing person posters and Wanted posters, focusing on using lots of describing words to make our posters very clear! Our layout is also important and we have been working on keeping it neat.

In P.E. we are continuing with our Gymnastics, focusing on putting together a short sequence with all the balances and jumps we have learned so far. We are making sure we take our time and keep ourselves safe whilst keeping a smooth transition between each shape.

We have now finished our Scotland topic and evaluated our learning of that. It was great to see what new things we had learned, especially things we remembered from our assembly.

Thanks for reading! From Mrs Henderson and Mrs Wells.

Primary 4b assembly: 8.2.19

This Friday, the 8th of February, Primary 4b would like to invite family and friends to come and see our class assembly.

The children have been working very hard to learn their lines, song and actions and are all excited to perform on Friday.

The assembly will be starting at 9am and afterwards, please feel free to stay on for a bit and enjoy a tea, coffee or juice and a little cake or biscuit!

We all look forward to seeing you on Friday.

P1c Blog Post 4/2/19

Numeracy:  We are all becoming much more confident counting backwards from 20 and 30 to help us with subtraction. We can subtract using counters, doing a drawing, using a numberline and counting backwards, keeping track on our fingers- this is the trickiest.

In literacy we have been working hard to develop lots of skills in writing. Some of us have written desciptions about an elephant- giving us practise of ph sound and some wrote about a truck, thinking about what it might see on its journey.

In gym we have been doing Bunny Hops. -Shay

We have been traveling in different ways using our hands and feet on the floor. Adam

During our topic time we have investigated boats after looking at a picture of a yacht in a book from the library. We had a partner task to create a boat that included a mast and a sail and we wanted to see if it moved faster on ice than on water. We looked into Canal boats too following on from some questions brought up when the a reading group had the book ‘Fun on the Canal’.

We are looking into flight too. Do you like our hot air baloons?  If anyone can share something about transport or would know anyone who would like to talk to us at school- please let us know!

Cooper- I made a jet with flappy things with the junk modeling.

Sophie- We have looked at lots of transport books.
