P4m – wk 21.08.23

We are so happy to be in Primary 4 and we are looking forward to all the fun things we will be doing this year!

In literacy, we have been learning how to fully answer literal questions in comprehension. We have been reminded to use capital letters and full stops in grammar. We have linked our writing to our class novel, ‘The Wild Robot’, and have created our own robot adventures which we are turning into books.

In numeracy, we have revised place value with 3 and 4 digit numbers!  We have also completed work on estimation and rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000.  Our problem solving was a difficult challenge this week, but we all used different strategies to succeed in solving the problem!

We had lots of fun building our own 3-D robots and designing an island for them to live on.  We looked at Scottish islands for inspiration and learned about land use, solar energy and mapping.

We look forward to updating you with our learning every fortnight and we would love you to leave a comment for us to read in class.

Class comments:

P7SW Blog August 2023

We have made a great start to Primary 7 in 7SW!

We began reading our new class novel ‘Divergent’ by Veronica Roth. We learned about all of the different factions and even created our own!

We are in the process of applying to be a member of the leadership team. Our first step was to write a persuasive letter to Mrs Angus about our skills and qualities and why we would be suited to the job. Our next step was to create a PowerPoint presentation which will be presented to the year group on Friday the 25th! Miss Smillie is so excited to see our presentations after all the hard work which has gone into them inside and outside of school!

In numeracy, we have been revising the four operations and will soon begin consolidating our knowledge of place value.

Pupil Voice:

‘I enjoyed designing my own faction to link to our class novel’ – E

‘I enjoyed creating facts about myself and making equations for my peers to solve’ – T

‘I enjoyed going outside for PE. We were working on our stamina’ – M

‘I enjoyed being able to see all my friends again’ – S

We can’t wait to tell you more in our next blog and look forward to sharing more of our learning!

Our First Blog Post! 22.8.23

We have had a fantastic first week back!

We are currently learning about Natural Disasters for our first topic which our first class novel is based on “Who Let the Gods Out?” and it has been very funny so far!

Our classroom is beginning to take shape with our learning, expressive arts and ideas/opinions appearing on our wall displays. Our class charter is also complete which helps remind us of our rights and how we can be responsible with them.

We are currently looking at teamwork and ensuring how we think of others in our class as Primary 5 – we even made our own classroom expectations together which we expect everyone to follow.

We can’t wait to tell you more in our next blog post and we will even have direct quotes from the class to let their voices and ideas/opinions be heard, too.

Thank you for reading!

Until next time,
