Lendrickmuir Day 1

We arrived at Lendrickmuir just after 10.30am. We were met by the instructors, who talked us through what we would be doing and we had to write down our three goals for this week (some of us have already achieved our goals by making our beds). We did a treasure hunt around Lendrickmuir to get our bearings. It was fun and we got to learn new things.

Before lunch we got time to go up to our rooms and we made our beds. Then we had a delicious tomato soup with a filled roll.

After lunch we were taken out for our first activity in our groups. Some of the activities we did were: Bushcraft, Kingswing, Nightline, Jacob’s Ladder and a walk to the gorge. A group also went cycling.

For dinner tonight we had delicious chicken pie or fish with peas and wedges. For pudding we had meringue, with peaches and cream.

When we finish our blog tonight we are going to play on the inflatables, after having our board games time. After supper we will be getting our pyjamas and then we will be watching our movie. We don’t know what it is yet. It will be a surprise.

We will be in touch tomorrow to tell you all about our day.

We have started our Mock Court topic and we have all been allocated out specific roles. Our lawyers on the pursuing side have completed an initial writ. This week, our defence team were completing a response to these initial writs. Two lawyers came in to help us.

We learned how to make pancakes. We followed instructions, made our pancakes and got to eat them. They were tasty.

In numeracy we have been learning long division. We have also been working on fractions and percentages and were working amounts of appreciation and depreciation of certain items.

In PE we have been working on our hockey skills, such as dribbling and passing and we have been playing team games. We were learning how to play dodge ball with Mrs Howard. It was good fun.

We made some chocolate muffins during our Skills Academy lesson with Miss Melrose. They were delicious.

We enjoyed taking part in a STEM lesson with Mrs Smillie for another Skills Academy session, where we were making parachutes for mini figurines. We used a variety of skills to complete this task such as – teamwork, communication, resilience and cooperation. To be successful our parachutes had to match our designs and have a soft and slow landing.

In P6c we have been learning about fair trade and the process of how the cocoa bean turns into the chocolate we see in the shops.

In numeracy we have been learning about fractions, decimals and  percentages. We have also been learning how to multiply and divide decimals.

This week in PE we have been doing fun challenges to earn points in our teams that we are in. For example one of our challenges was orienteering with our groups, we had to find lots of clues hidden around the school playgrounds.

In our new topic we have been getting ready for our space assembly on Friday the 20th of March.
