P5 have visitor from MacMillan Cancer Support
Jayne Forbes came to visit Primary Five today. She works for MacMillan Cancer Support. She told us all about the fantastic support that the charity gives to families affected by Cancer. Last year they were in touch with and gave support to over 5 million people.
In Primary five we are gearing up to next weeks big event at the MacMillan Coffee Morning. We have sold out of tickets for the event with 220 tickets sold. On the day we will be selling MacMillan merchandise, cakes and hyacinth bulbs. You will also have the opportunity to take part in various competitions, including ‘Guess the Teacher’. You will get to find out what our teachers looked like as babies! Lets hope everything runs smoothly and we raise lots of money for a fantastic charity.
Hamish Has Arrived!
Last week Hamish McHaggis arrived in Primary 2/1, Primary 2 and Primary 3/2. He brought along some lovely story books about his adventures around Scotland. Hamish wanted to know where we had been in Scotland and would like us to learn more about Scotland. We have been painting Hamish and his friends and this week we are learning about Edinburgh.
Introducing Primary 5a!? These are our facetionary self-portraits, which we created when we visited the Wonderful Williamston Woods. Do you recognise us?
Democracy and Dictatorship
As part of our Citizen 7 topic we have been developing our research and presenting skills! We worked together in groups to find out information about either Dictatorship or Democracy. We had to use what we found out to create a presentation. We presented these to other groups and brought together what we learned on a poster by listing 5 facts we learned from the presentations. We also evaluated how we thought our groups worked together. We are looking forward to learning more about the Scottish Parliament. We will keep you posted!
