Primary 1 created lovely portraits of the magical elf Roy G.Biv…who is he? Well you will have to ask one of the Primary 1 children! We made our portraits with oil pastels…a medium that we are now getting very good at using! Our cutting skills were also developed to create Roy’s colourful hair…I wonder why it’s so brightly coloured?!

P7 Chinese with Miss Sum!
In Primary 7 we have been having lots of fun learning all about the Chinese culture. It has been a brilliant experience for us all. We have been looking at lots of different Chinese art such as paper cutting, lanterns and much more. We have also been learning about Chinese New Year and the twelve zodiac animals. We got the opportunity to make a collection of cards with one of the 12 zodiac animals on each of them for our families. We have also been learning lots about the Chinese language, which we have been finding very interesting as it is so different to our own.
Over all we have had a great experience with Miss Sum so far and can’t wait to learn much more in our next session with her.
P5 take art outdoors
During art today, P5b took learning outdoors and combined textiles with natural materials, found outside. Weaving the coloured wool around some dried sticks and branches, we learned some weaving techniques. We enjoyed taking art outdoors and although sometimes it was tricky, for many of us it was a relaxing activity that challenged us in many ways! It’s amazing how you can create some vibrant, interesting art from the simplest materials! Some of us took them home today to hang somewhere nice…some of us even liked the idea of using it as a ‘good luck charm’!
P1 explore colour and line
Fauldhouse and Crofthead Burns Club Logo Winner
Iman from P7 was the overall winner of the Fauldhouse and Crofthead Burns Logo Competition. She received her original logo framed and printed on her own mug as well as a ‘Burns for Bairns’ book. Her logo will now be used by the Fauldhouse and Crofthead Burns club for all their correspondence and documentation. Well done Iman we are all very proud.
Showcase preparations!
P7 are having a wonderful time working with Miss Sum. We have been learning how to do some paper cutting and some of it was very complex! We used a growth mindset approach to ensure we were confident when taking on a new challenge. We cannot wait to show what we have been learning at our Cluster Chinese New Year showcase soon!
WPS Garden of Values
Check out the new display showing our school values – it’s wonderful! The display shows our Williamston Values and features artwork by the Art After-School Club. The children have done a great job! Please note that the “Value of the Month” for January is “Tolerance” and we are looking forward to learning more about this value in assemblies soon.

Primary 6 Winter Art
We explored paint techniques this week and created a winter art piece. We imagined we were lying on the ground, below the trees looking up to the bright full moon! The process was great fun and we learned more about perspective and different ways to use a paintbrush, from the bold expressive blue and purple skies to the delicate silhouette branches of the trees.
