Home Learning Ideas

Some suggestions for home learning for all age groups:

  • Try to keep a weekday routine
  • Read daily – even ten minutes of reading everyday will make a difference to your learning
  • Every week use your home learning jotter to free write. Any kind of writing will continue to improve your literacy skills.  Younger children should draw and mark make.
  • If you have a set of key words to practice in your home learning pack try reading them daily – little and often makes the difference. Older children should practice spelling the first 300 common words. Use the strategy look, cover, write and check (look at the word, cover the word with a book or your hand, write the word, uncover the word and see if you have it correct) to practice your spelling of common words.
