Happy Campers P5
A brilliant day had by all here in Broomlee. After an uneventful bus journey, we set up in our dorms before heading for a tour of the camp. A delicious lunch was a big hit with most of our campers before our afternoon activities-Low Ropes and Crate Climb. Dinner was pasta with cake and custard then we headed into the woods for campfire. Well done to Raeya who won the award for the best campfire singer! Supper and playtime in the grounds ensured a happy end to the day… with hopefully a long nights sleep.
Looking forward to tomorrow’s adventure!
P3 update
This week we have studied the work of the artist Paul Klee. We were particularly interested in his painting called Castle and Sun. We noticed that he used 2D shapes to create this picture and we discussed the colours he used. We then made a picture of our own. We used oil pastels and water coloured paint.
P6’s Happy Place workshop with local band Saint Phnx
Today P6 enjoyed a well-earned trip to the Hub to take part in a music well-being workshop with local band Saint Phnx. Brothers Stevie and Al welcomed P6, introduced themselves and explained how music can help you with your emotions and wellbeing. Speaking candidly about some of the tough times they have faced, the band shared strategies to channel negative emotions through the power and positivity of music, to find your ‘Happy Place’.
The brothers performed some of their big hits, including Happy Place, talked about touring with Lewis Capaldi, and how they got started with their music careers.
P6 have been watching their songs for a number of days during class breaks and have been really enjoying their music! We prepared questions for the band and the boys answered them all and signed autographs and had their picture taken with the class.
This was memorable and very special afternoon that was enjoyed by all pupils and staff and it doesn’t end here! The band have asked us to create a piece of art showing what each pupil’s ‘Happy Place’ looks like and the band will make a wall mural to display this. We will be working on this from tomorrow and are really looking forward to sharing our imaginations with such wonderful and inspiring role models! The message you have shared with us is very positive and thought-provoking. Thank you Saint Phnx!
P1 M’s Very Busy Week !
We drew some wonderful pictures of ourselves and we added lots of details.
Our Parents came along to “Share in Our Learning” today . We showed them how we read, write and make words. We had fun showing them what Superstars we are.
We found ways of counting using Ten Frames. We had to show lots of numbers and what they looked like arranged in different ways.
The Dental Nurse Lisa came in with Dragon to show us how to brush our teeth. She said we should be brushing twice a day at home and once a day at school. We said we would try very hard so that we had nice sparkly teeth.
We used Numicon to help us recognise numbers and we copied a picture , matching up the colours.
Another bust week. Well done to our P1 M Superstars ! *******

P1 M Superstars have earned their doughnuts !
What another great week in P1 M. Lots of learning and fun have taken place. Everyone has been working extra hard to learn new sounds and slide them together to make words ! Soon we will bring home sounds to show our families how much we have learned. I’m sure you will be amazed at our Superstars !
With maths we have been counting forwards and backwards to 5, 10 and 20. We are beginning to recognise lots of new numbers. We have been doing lots of counting , cutting , matching and sorting numbers and pictures in groups.
This week we had lots of fun learning how to log on to the i pad. It was quite tricky trying to read and find the letters and numbers in the codes that we needed but we were very proud of ourselves that we had managed and didn’t need to ask Mrs Moffat for help. She was super proud and happy too !
We showed lots of creativity this week and had fun with building and crafting.
Sensory activities helped us explore and crawl, jump , balance and wonder !
We also enjoyed watching and dancing to the music in ‘Trolls ‘ and we especially enjoyed our doughnut treats ! Enjoy your September weekend P1 M Superstars !
