Primary 1

We have had a great week in the โ˜€๏ธ sunshine, remembering to be Sunny Safe with our sun hats ๐Ÿงข and sunscreen ๐Ÿงด.

We got out in the garden and planted potatoes ๐Ÿฅ” carrots ๐Ÿฅ• and beans ๐Ÿซ˜. We were very safe and responsible with the garden tools and all showed great listening skills to follow the instructions. We are looking forward to watching them grow.

We also practiced our balance and coordination skills on the trim trail, we have been doing very well using our perseverance and trying hard as we can find some things tricky.

In class we have been working on time ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. We have been talking about how we know time is moving, we have talked about day and night time, moths, seasons, days and the clock โฐ Our focus with the clock is telling the time on the hour, oโ€™clock.

Primary one have been good role models, we have been up to the nursery to meet the new boys and girls who are coming up to school in the summer. We enjoyed playing with them and telling them all about Primary 1.

Have a lovely weekend.๐Ÿ˜€

Primary 1

What a great start to the week we had in Primary 1, we had a lovely trip to the park with Primary 3 and Fred Frog ๐Ÿธ. Fred was helping us to spell lots of words in the park.

We have been enjoying the sunshine โ˜€๏ธ and planting seeds, we were out in the garden planting our pumpkin seeds, we hope they grow big and strong.
We then worked on our balance and coordination skills in the trim trail before cooling off.

In RE we have been learning all about Mary as May is a special moth for Mary. We then started a wall display for Mary to remind us that this is a special month. On Friday we were all respectful at Mass, joining in with the prayers and hymns we know.

We hope you have a lovely bank holiday weekend.

Primary 1

Welcome back after our Easter Holidays. We all enjoyed sharing with the class what we got up to during the holidays.

We had a super outdoor learning session this week in the school garden ๐Ÿชด We participated in a sensory treasure hunt, exploring the smells and feels in the garden.

In RE we picked the story of Jonah and the Whale ๐Ÿณ. We all have a good understanding of the rules we have to follow and that grownups have to follow rules as well. We talked about how we all can make mistakes but itโ€™s good to say sorry and God always forgives us. We made Jonah and the Whale ๐Ÿณ models to remind us of this.

In numeracy and maths we have moved on to learning fractions, our focus will be making 1/2 of different shapes and to challenge

different amounts. Two parts make one whole.

Primary 1 have had a fantastic first week back and are looking forward to our last term in Primary 1.

Primary 1

Last week before the Easter holidays and we made the most of it in Primary 1.

We had a great day for our very first school trip. We have been learning about Scotland ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ and in particular castles ๐Ÿฐ and we were very excited to get the chance to visit the capital and get inside a real castle.
Just going on the bus ๐ŸšŒ without our grown ups from home was a real adventure. Some of us were very nervous but we were very brave. Everyone should be proud of themselves.

We all had lots of fun exploring the castle and looking out at the views from it.

On Friday we made Easter ๐Ÿฃ nest cakes. We had lots of fun using our collaboration skills to work together.

Happy Holidays

Primary 1

We were glad that our outdoor learning got changed to the start of the week this week as we had some lovely sunshine to work outside. We were helping in the trim trail to make a sensory garden. We put our handprints on the crate to decorate it. We then had some time with our buddies in the trim trail to work on our balance, co ordination and team work skills.

We have been learning about the new season of spring and thinking about what happens in spring time. We have created descriptions of chicks ๐Ÿฃ in our writing jotters.

In numeracy and maths we have been making equal groups, sharing items between friends and making sure everyone has the same amount to keep it fair.

Primary 1

On Monday we learned all about St Patrick, we used this learning of the trinity to make beautiful shamrock โ˜˜๏ธ sun catchers.

We also had a lovely buddy hour where we read to our buddies and they read to us.

Cake ๐Ÿฐ and ๐Ÿญ candy sale was lots of fun, we got to take our money up and buy cakes. This was a great opportunity to use money in a real life setting.

On Thursday we had our outdoor learning in the school garden. We have been growing pumpkin ๐ŸŽƒ plants ๐ŸŒฑ in our classroom but they were getting too big for their pots. We wanted to plant them in the ground but because it has been frosty ๐Ÿฅถ in the morning we decided to put them in bigger pots and bring them back into the classroom. ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  We did get to dig a big hole and plant our Christmas tree ๐ŸŒฒ that our elf brought us during lent.

On Friday we enjoyed a lovely assembly led by Primary 4 ย all about Easter.

Have a lovely weekend.

On Thursday we spent some time in the woodland area and trip trail for our outdoor learning. In the woods we went on a treasure hunt looking for different things, leaves ๐Ÿ sticks and acorns. In the trim trail we worked on our balance and coordination.

On Friday we took part in our Lent Bingo we had to concentrate hard on the numbers that were called so we could mark the numbers correctly, our P7 buddies helped us.

Have a lovely weekend.

This week we showcased our Scottish Dancing skills. We have been practicing these at PE and have had lots of fun exercising and having fun dancing.

As Tuesday was Pancake ๐Ÿฅž Tuesday we had a great time making pancakes from scratch. We mixed all the ingredients together then took turns at cooking them. We had a choice of yummy toppings.

What a great week in Primary 1!

We have been learning to measure, we have used block, paperclips, hands and feet and finally a ruler. We discussed how it looked like a number line and how it can help us measure. We were all very good at using it!
We had lots of activities around ordering things in size, talkers to shortest, longest to shortest etc. Finally we all got in size order ourselves.

In our topic work we have been looking at Scotland ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ and the focus this week was where we live, or where the school is, Polbeth. We had lots of fun walking round the village ticking off places of interest. We we excited about buying something in the shop and getting to taste a Subway. We finished off our walk with a trip to the park.
