Tay Class News (St. Mary’s Primary ERB)

We’ve continued to learn about money, time and shape.    This week we’ve been learning about repeating patterns.  We listened to/watched songs about patterns and H enjoyed dancing along to one of them too.  We also did some pattern activities on the iPads.  We’ve continued to practice our phonics through songs and activities. We’ve practiced our listening skills through activities on the iPads.  We’ve listened to stories and explored the books in class.   Some of us came to school in pyjamas today to celebrate world book day.

We’ve enjoyed time outdoors in the playground, field, outdoor class and the trim trail.  It’s  been very chilly this week so many of us were delighted at the contents of ‘What’s in the box?’ yesterday: hot chocolate, marshmallows and cream! We mixed up our own.  Two of the class drank/ate all three things.  Some of us just liked the cream and marshmallows.

We’ve celebrated several birthdays in class too.  ‘A’ has been singing ‘Happy Birthday’ regularly over the past two months so he was very excited to celebrate his own birthday and hear people singing to him.  His big smile says it all!

Tay Class News (St. Mary’s Primary ERB)

Tay class did some process art inspired by photos, songs and videos of Autumn.  We explored the colours: mixing different colours both on the palette and on the paper.

We continued our ‘All about Me’  topic.  We watched and listened to songs about bones and created skeleton pictures with different types of pasta.  ‘Dem bones, dem bones dem dry bones…’.
We listened to the colour monster story and sorted some different pictures into groups: sad, happy or angry.

Tay Class News

Tay Class have had another busy couple of weeks. The classroom has been very warm so we’ve enjoyed lots of fresh air outside at the trim trail, kick pitch and the playground.

We listened to the story of the colour monster and coloured in our own monsters.  We listened to lots of other stories too.

We listened to lots of songs and rhymes and made our own Incy wincey spiders.

B did great counting and stuck in the correct answers.  Well done B!

A and M enjoying a story in the library corner. Great listening and looking.

C having a relax on the cool grass. Great idea C!

B took a selfie with his missing tooth. His tooth fell out but luckily Miss A found it on the floor.

Tay Class Update

The first few weeks of the session have gone well in Tay Class.  The children have been very engaged during play and whilst exploring resources.

Our topic is ‘People Who Help Us’.  We have been learning through songs and stories as well as playing with some emergency vehicles and a police station.  We have used our art skills to make a variety of vehicles too.  Some of the class added labels to diagrams of fire fighters and police officers and matched people to their vehicles.

Tay Class Update

Last week was another busy week in Tay Class.  Here are a some photos of what we’ve been doing…

All of us really enjoyed playing the glockenspiels:

We have listening to the story and  songs about ‘What the Ladybird Heard’.  We played a game on the Phonics Bloom website where we matched the sound to the correct animal. Below ‘A’ and ‘H’ are matching the pictures of baby animals to the pictures of the adult animal.

‘B’ and ‘L’ have really enjoyed playing the keyboard.  They have been learning to wait and take turns.

‘Choose Time’…

‘A’ enjoyed modelling with the plasticine. ‘H’ build a super model with the Duplo and ‘A’ enjoyed playing with a new dinosaur that Miss M. kindly brought in for us.

Trim Trail fun…

exploring, balancing, climbing and running!

‘A’ and ‘A’ learning to share resources

Tay Class Health Week Fun

Last week was ‘Health Week’ in school.   The Health Committee worked hard to organise lots of activities so thank you very much to them for this.

Tay Class enjoyed songs and games about healthy food.  We absolutely loved the ‘Smoothie Bike’.  ‘H’ helped chop up some fruit and then most children took turns to add in the fruit and the juice.  Most of us took turn to pedal the bike to make the blender work.  The final result was some delicious healthy smoothie which some of us tried.  ‘A’ really enjoyed his and drank it all.  Great team effort Tay Class!

Tay Class had a very different PE time:  there were sensory stations set up in the hall.  Many of us loved the bubbles and the tent with lights and music.  There was a sensory path to walk over and a foot spa full of orbeez- which ‘L’ especially enjoyed.  We also cleaned the ‘germs’ off the hands and explored the touch and feel tray.

We really enjoyed using the bubble machines in class too.
