P1C Learning Highlights 30th October 2026

It was lovely to welcome everyone back from our October holiday.  This week we have been learning all about the letter ‘i’ and the common word ‘is’.   We read the story Christopher Pumpkin and we got to hollow pumpkins. In Maths, we have been estimating. We had to cut a piece of wool to fit around the pumpkin and then measured it to see if it was too short, too long or just right.

We then looked at pictures of pumpkin seeds on the board and had to estimate how many there were. We then counted them to check if our estimates were correct.  We used 10 frames and pumpkin seeds to help us with our counting.

We learned about how to keep safe for Halloween and when out trick or treating.

We drew our own spider web and spider.  Mrs Meikle said they looked amazing.

We had lots of fun on Friday we came to school dressed up and completed Halloween crafts, apple dooking  in the water tray, toss the ring on the witches hat and spider races when we had to blow the plastic spider across the table using a straw.  We also made a bat and a spider.  We met up with our Buddies and they gave us a Halloween card.

We all agreed our favourite part of the week was our Halloween activities.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
