P1B Learning Highlights Friday 19th May 2023

Another busy week this week in P1B.  The week started with a letter from a giant asking if we could use his footprints to do some measuring.  We measured and found things that were bigger and smaller that his footprints.  We ordered beanstalks from tallest to smallest and we measured how many beans tall the beanstalks were.  The giant knocked over tables and chairs in our classroom so we made wanted posters for him.  The giant sent us another letter to say sorry for making a mess in the classroom he didn’t mean it.  It was because he was so big.

We read the story of Cinderella.  We sequenced pictures to retell the story.  We designed a pair of shoes sharing gems and drawing items equally between the shoes.  We discussed the role of a fairy godmother and during circle time we spoke about what we would wish for if we had a fairy godmother. We made our own wands.  In writing we used adjective to write sentences about Cinderella.  We designed a ball gown for Cinderella and we made missing posters so the prince could find her.

On Wednesday we went for a visit to the library.  We got to choose our own book to look at.  We were allowed to build things with Lego and we got to draw pictures and colour in.  On the way back to school we got to play in the play park.  We had great fun.

To celebrate Ascension Thursday we went to Mass at St Peter’s on Thursday Morning.  We were celebrating Jesus going up to heaven and we were very well behaved.

This week was Mental Health Awareness week, we spoke about our feelings and how it is ok to have lots of different feelings.  We discussed ways to help us if we feel anxious, sad or worried.

In Spanish we practised counting to 10, the colours and the days of the week.
