Last week was Scottish Book week and we collected our thoughts about all the places we can find things to read.

We have continued to be very busy with our craft work. Finger knitting and crochet. If anyone has spare wool then we will gratefully receive it and put it to good use.

This week was a little different, we had Mr McGurn visiting while Mrs Ross was doing Number Talks with some other classes. We were adding numbers up to millions. (BS) We played some maths games too. (SF) It was a 2 player game when you have to race each other to find the right number. (JJ)

For spelling we have been practising long vowel patterns.  We have been learning about the rules of spelling them.  This week we learned about ‘ai’ and ‘ay’. (MM)

Did you know when using ‘ai’ in a word we have to check there are consonants on either side of the sound. If there is another vowel we need to use ‘ay’. But we can use ‘ay’ if the sound is at the end of the word. the y is an anchor to hold the vowel sound in the word.

We have done some Number Talks to get better at numbers. (LS) (To improve our number knowledge) We have spent time on laptops. (PF) We started painting panels for our Great Hall. (SF)
